In Japanese aesthetics, Ma is the meaningful pause or empty space. Kokoro Wato requires you to listen to others not to reply, but to resonate. When someone speaks to you, practice the "3-Second Rule": After they finish speaking, wait three seconds before you respond. In that pause, you are Wato —merging your awareness with theirs.
