: Pandiyan (Kamal Haasan) is a divorced dance assistant who desperately misses his daughter. To be near her, he disguises himself as an elderly female nanny named "Avvai Shanmugi" and takes a job at his ex-wife's (Meena) parental home.

The story follows Pandian, a struggling dance assistant who loses custody of his daughter after a messy divorce from his wife, Janaki. Desperate to stay close to his child, Pandian enlists the help of a makeup artist friend to transform himself into an elderly Brahmin woman named Avvai Shanmugi.
