Following his outbursts at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and his infamous "I'mma let you finish" moment, West was struggling to come to terms with his newfound fame and the pressures of living up to his creative legacy. The album's title, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, was inspired by West's own admission that he had become "fascinated with the intersection of darkness and light, the two being intertwined."
