After analyzing dozens of forum threads (including Pakistanis IT forums, Reddit’ r/VUstudents, and GitHub gists), a consensus emerges:
VU quiz firewalls are not foolproof. Protocol nesting, encryption, and simple redirection can defeat port-based and SNI-based filtering. A modern defense requires combining network DPI, forced DNS, endpoint agents, and exam design changes. Future research should focus on lightweight machine learning models to detect tunneling behavior without breaking privacy.

The firewall sees the same external IP, same MAC (virtual), same user-agent. It cannot directly detect VM snapshots.
: Third-party extensions not vetted by the university can pose privacy and security risks to a student's personal and academic data.
