Om Prakash Makhija (Shah Rukh Khan) is a "junior artist" dreaming of becoming a superstar. He is hopelessly in love with the reigning queen of the silver screen, Shanti Priya (Deepika Padukone). This half of the film is a vibrant tribute to the retro era, complete with oversized collars, bell-bottoms, and the golden glow of vintage film sets.
