Back in Hardwerk, things shifted in ways at once small and irrevocable. Miss Flora planted the seeds in the greenhouse beds. New shoots pushed through crusted earth and within weeks the air in the dome carried notes of storms long gone and songs hardly remembered. Diosa walked the lanes with the ledger and spoke names aloud; people who had been estranged reknit their bargains, and the harbor sang with the low-throated rejoicing of reunion.
