In the late 14th century, the Ottoman Empire, under the leadership of Sultan Murad I, was rapidly expanding its territories in the Balkans. The Serbian prince, Lazar Hrebeljanović, determined to resist Ottoman rule, assembled a coalition of Serbian nobles and armies to confront the invaders. The two armies clashed on the Kosovo Field, resulting in a fierce and bloody battle that lasted for several hours.
