The is a specialized civil engineering tool designed primarily for geotechnical analysis, specifically the calculation of lateral earth pressures and the design of retaining structures. Named after the ancient Greek word for Split (Croatia), where its development likely originated, it is frequently used by engineers for structural stability checks and foundation design. Aspalathus linearis (Rooibos) is commercially significant for its unique flavonoid, aspalathin, which exhibits antioxidant, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory properties. Variability in aspalathin content due to harvest time, fermentation, and processing necessitates a rapid, standardized quantification method. This paper introduces the —a digital or formula-based tool that estimates aspalathin concentration (mg/g dry weight) from UV-Vis spectrophotometric data at 288 nm (λmax for aspalathin) and correction factors for interfering flavonoids. The calculator improves quality control for herbal manufacturers and researchers by reducing reliance on costly HPLC for routine screening.

Excellent case. A few months before this was published, I met Lee Ranaldo at a film he was presenting and I brought this album for him to sign. Lee said it was his “favorite” Sonic Youth album, and (no surprise) it’s mine too, which is why I brought it.

For the record, I love and own nearly every studio album they released, so it’s not a mere preference for a particular stage of their career – it’s simply the one that came out on top.

Nice appreciative analysis of Sonic Youth’s strongest and most artistic ’90s album. I dug a little deeper in my analysis (‘Beyond SubUrbia: A View Through the Trees’), but I think my Gen-x perspective demanded that.
